Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
